Significance of RED

The color red symbolizes liberation from male oppression, confidence and resilient womanhood. During the 1900s in the United States, suffragettes used red lipstick as a gesture of unity and rebellion to fight for women's rights

Red in Asia is a colour of luck, wealth and prosperity featuring prominently in celebrations of joy.

In Hinduism, red represents the Goddess Mother Luxmi, the Goddess of wealth for whom we wear the red string and the red dot symbolic of marriage.

Red has come to symbolize strong, independent women an idea having its roots in ancient and traditional cultures - for Red, the colour of the internal river of life - blood is what accompanies us from the bloody process of birth; defines us as women through the start of the menstrual cycle and reminds us through womanhood of the pain and discomfort we women endure, ceasing in our twilight years as we pass through menopause.

It is a colour that I have always been drawn to for it is the colour of bold passion and fearlessness, love and strength that we all possess.
