Life after the festive season

Easing back into routine after an overindulgent festive season takes a bit of readjustment.

It all starts with the removal of tinsel and baubles and the ultimate dismantling of the Christmas tree, a somewhat bitter-sweet moment for me.

I say good-bye to Luther’s Christmas tunes for yet another year, reluctantly replacing his perfect serenades with the droning of morning news.

The few extra kilograms that silently found its way to my mid-section with the festive cheer stubbornly resists against grudging gym sessions, but I persist …

The Christmas pudding and shortbread biscuits are hastily replaced by hot cross buns and protein shakes.

And so the new day dawns…
